So Close, Yet So Far Away - 1

This picture was taken when Leslie filmed the movie “Merry Christmas” . This location was also used to shoot one of the scenes in "Arrest the Restless" . A scene in which Leslie and Deanie Yip (playing the role of Leslie's mom in the movie) were being beaten up by the gang. I knew this location because I had walked on this street many times and one of my classmates used to live there.

Looking at this picture, it reminds me of my happy secondary school life at the Maryknoll Sisters School in Happy Valley, HK. The pink building at the far end of the picture is the school. It has now changed its name to Marymount Sisters School, still one of the best and most wanted-to-get-into schools in Hong Kong.

I studied there between 1968-73. Where were you, my dear Leslie, then? You studied briefly in Rosaryhill School, just a short period of two years, and Rosaryhill was on top of the hill while ours was in the middle of it. There was every opportunity that your school bus passed by our school everyday. Were you happened to be in one of them, dear? If so, that could be the point in our life closest to each other. How much I wished I had already known you then!
