Leslie was with me all the time (Trip to Beijing and Hong Kong between March 23 and April 11, 2007)

I and my mom joined a land group to visit Beijing between March 24 and 30, then flew down to Hong Kong on the 30th to attend the memorial events for Leslie. During the trip, I felt Leslie was with me all the time.

On March 26, day 3 in Beijing, our tour guide told us that we would be watching Peking operas that night, something that was not on my itinerary. Watching “Farewell to My Concubine” being played on the stage for the first time, I could not hold back my tear any more. All I saw was no one but Leslie playing Concubine Yu on stage.

On March 28, day 5 in Beijing, we were on our own. At the Hutong area, we looked for the residence of Mei Lanfang, the great master of Peking Opera, someone that Leslie respected. It was closed when I visited Beijing last year so I decided to visit it again. While looking for the house, we accidentally ran into Furen University at which one of the scenes in Leslie’s movie “Farewell to My Concubine” was made. Although we were not allowed to enter the university, yet I felt so close to Leslie already. This was something unexpected again.

Then we visited the residence of Mei Lanfang.

Does this courtyard look familiar to you? Yes, it's where a scene of "Farewell to My Concubine" was shot.

My meeting with Luogo, Miao Miao, Tong Tsang and紫色拉 on March 29 was another unexpected event, yet it was such a great one. Thank you, girls, for your kind hospitality. I had the most wonderful night and enjoyed every minute of it. Thanks to Leslie too for drawing us together.

On March 30, on the flight from Beijing to Hong Kong, unexpectedly, a cup of Haagan Dazs chocolate ice cream was served to us as dessert, something that Leslie loved to eat. When I saw it, I immediately thought of Leslie.

In Hong Kong, on our way to the hotel from the airport, we passed by New World Centre and saw the gigantic poster hanging outside the mall. Immediately, I felt Leslie's presence already.

Red Mission's 401 event was to be held behind the gigantic poster.

Then our car passed by Hunghom Stadium, the place where Leslie held his numerous concerts. Now looking back, it was 21 years ago in 1986 when I was there watching Leslie's 2nd personal concert.

Then what followed was a series of events keeping all of us very very busy.

On March 31 and April 1, four films of Leslie's were being run on big screen including "The Kid", "Inner Senses", "Moonlight Express" and "Double Tap". I went to all of them. It was such a thrilling feeling and experience watching Leslie on big screen.

On March 31, Gor Gor's Website held the 8th "In Reminiscence of Leslie's Artistic Life" Seminar. Mr. Perry Lam was invited as the guest speaker talking about "The Idea of Leslie", with Prof. Anthony Fung as the guest host.

In the second half of the seminar, Mr. Gordon Cheung, the director of the movie "Okinawa Rendez Vous", talked about his collaboration with Leslie, their friendship and his feelings towards Leslie. Mr. Rong Xue Yan was the guest host.

On April 1, at the Mandarin Hotel, we could see a sea of flowers for Leslie.

At the Avenue of Stars, a stand was set up for fan friends to post their messages for Leslie.

Leslie's star on the Avenue of Star was decorated with a beautiful flower wreath.

Red Mission's event at the New World Centre was a successful one, attended by fans from all over the world.

On April 2, together with Lan Lan (from Boston), her sister, and BK (from Indiana), we went to Wong Wing Kee to purchase the preserved plums that Leslie loved to eat.

We then picked up "Leslie Cheung's Movie World, Book 3" at the office of City Entertainment and saw some past issues of books and beautiful pictures of Leslie's being sold there.

The highlight of the day was tasting the type of noodles that Leslie loved to eat at Kau Kee Noodle House.

Right opposite the noodle house was the location where many scenes of the movie "The Kid" were being shot. Of course, it was a spot we wouldn't miss.

Afterwards, we went to Man Mo Temple where Leslie had shot some pictures for the picture album "All About Leslie". We then went to the Fringe Club and Duddell Street in Central.

The last excitement of the day was going to the wax museum in the peak. We met a lot of fan friends there. We also went to the peak viewing terrace where a few scenes of the movie "Moonlight Express" were shot but after renovation, it did not look the same as in the movie anymore.

Finally, we went to the Queen's Cafe for dinner. We had covered a lot of places in one day.

On April 8, I and my mom went to the temple in Happy Valley to show our respect to Leslie. We saw many flowers were placed there knowing that a lot of fan friends had been there. Our dear Leslie was loved and missed by a lot of people.
